Today society at large is faced with the concern for the environmental impacts of transportation, and recently the global climate change due to greenhouse gases has attracted a lot of attention.
The automotive industry is now challenged by tighter and tighter regulations on emissions and fuel economy. Hybrid technology, i.e. a mix of electric drive and Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) propulsion, is one measure for the development t of transportation. It will play an important role as a first step in a revolutionary change from ICE to electric propulsion.
The Swedish Hybrid Vehicle Centre (SHC) is a distributed Center of Excellence with the objective to develop and optimize existing and coming technologies for propulsion and energy storage to find the most fuel effective and cost effective hybrid vehicle concept.
The vision of SHC is to be one of the internationally leading centres of research and development of sustainable hybrid electric vehicle systems.
